Writing Retreats Rule

I just came back from spending two and a half days in a small cabin with a friend writing. I mean, we wrote a lot. We probably put in about twelve hours. And wow, did that feel good. The thing about retreats is that you get to write without being interrupted, so you can edit a whole short story, or follow a character through a whole short novel, or write several new scenes, or…. you get the idea. You can sink your teeth in. So even though two and a half days doesn’t sound like a lot, it’s the concentration of hours that do it. Plus there’s no laundry to be done, no bathroom to clean, no neighbours to help out, no one to drive to anywhere. Ah, yes, writing retreats are the best.
